The MediaStar 780/HD is an HD IPTV Receiver for delivery of High Definition TV and Multimedia content to any HD ready display screen. High Definition TV

The support of HDTV offers a vastly improved viewing experience and with the continued support of SDTV, the MediaStar Evolution 780/HD IPTV Receiver ensures the ever changing TV requirements for an organisation can be supported through the deployment of the 780/HD units in conjunction with the MediaStar Evolution IPTV Headend.

The 780/HD IPTV Receiver delivers the benefits of the latest low bandwidth video compression standard, MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, and offers the user the ability to drive the latest High Definition screens through both High Definition HDMI and Analogue outputs. 

It can decode both HD and SD, MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2 encoded network streams so that video and audio can be viewed over an IP network.

Multimedia Delivery

Amongst the many applications suitable for the 780/HD IPTV Receiver are corporate communications, which often require a one-to-many multicast, whether to local, national or international audiences. This may involve the delivery of live TV channels, specific training programmes and digital signage. It brings the potential of visual communication to every display within an organisation.

Increasingly, provision of digital signage is being carried out over IP networks and applications range from small displays in retail outlets to giant outdoor displays in stadiums and arenas.

When used in conjunction with the MediaStar Evolution IPTV Headend, the 780 Receiver is able to deliver the highest quality signage content, streamed across local and international networks to serve the highest quality HD resolutions to remote screens and displays.

Connectivity

The 780/HD IPTV Receiver is the perfect companion to the HD display. It is designed to maximise the visual quality of digital display devices such as plasma screens and LCDs, delivering High Definition TV and PC content at 720p and 1080i and through the on-board rendering engine, the ability to also up-scale Standard Definition TV.

Video is output in a wide variety of formats including Composite, VGA - WXGA, RGB, YPbPr, HDMI, at up to 1080i resolution. 

Sources may include HDTV, SDTV, VGA and HDMI outputs from Signage PCs, all delivered as IP network streams.  In addition to receiving live MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2 HD/SD streams, the 780/HD IPTV Receiver will also play out PowerPoint presentations (converted to HTML), JPEGs, PNGs and HTMLs.

Reliable

It can operate in standalone mode or under the control of the central MediaStar Administration system. It has Browser/RS232/USB and IR remote control interfaces and is built around an ultra reliable dual-core computing engine running under Linux.
